Every well is different in depth, amount of water and overall size. This is not a “one size fits all” situation! Depending on these various factors, the goal is to select the appropriate pump to attain desired results. Well pumps will most likely be mounted on the inside of the well or above it. For distances less than 25’ deep, we recommend using a shallow well jet pump. If the depth exceeds 25’, a submersible well pump is preferred and is them mounted directly inside the well. The submersible well pump is great for distances up to about 400 feet.

Submersible Pumps vs. Jet Pumps

The main difference between the two is that submersible pumps push fluid to the surface while jet pumps pull fluid. One advantage of the submersible pump is that it prevents pump cavitation. Pump cavitation is a common problem that is associated with a high elevation difference between the pump and the fluid surface. Some of the different types of submersible pumps include:  Injector pumps, mechanical pumps and solar powered pumps.
